‘हिरोशिमा-नागासाकी’ हे शब्द उच्चारताच एका महानरसंहाराचा भस्मासुरी आलेख डोळ्यासमोरुन तराळून जातो. या विध्वंसक घटनेने लाखो माणसं किड्यामुंग्यांप्रमाणे मरुन पडली. जणू काय मानवताच मरून पडली होती. यामध्ये अनेक ह्रदयद्रावक, ऊर फाटणारे, करुनाजनक प्रसंग आहेत, जे दगाडालाही पाजर फोडणारे आहेत. यातून मानवाने काही धडा घेणे आवश्यक आहे. अणुसंशोधन हे मानवी बुद्धिकौशल्याचा विजय समजायचा की मानवी संस्कृतीच्या विनाशाची पूर्वतयारी समजायची. हा भीषण प्रश्न सर्व जगापुढे उभा आहे.
हिरोशिमा घटनेनंतरही गेल्या ७५ वर्षात अण्वस्त्रांची संख्या इतकी वाढली आहे की जग हे धोक्याच्या कड्यावर उभं आहे. अपघाताने जरी स्फोट झाला, तरी पृथ्वीवरील सजीवसृष्टी केवळ २० सेकंदात नष्ठ होऊ शकते. म्हणूनंच जगातील सर्व राष्ट्रांनी एकत्र येऊन गांभीर्याने विचार करण्याची नितांत गरज आहे. ‘हिरोशिमा-नागासाकी’ ची चूक पुन्हा घडू नये. मानवी बुद्धिमत्ता ही ईश्वराची सर्वोच्च देणगी आहे. तिचा वापर मानवी कल्याणासाठी केला पाहिजे.
जेव्हा आपण अन्य राष्ट्राविषयी शत्रूत्वाची भावना व्यक्त करतो, तिथेच युद्धाची कल्पना उगम पावते.ती मानवाला विनाशाकडे घेऊन जाते. पण, जेव्हा आपण सर्व मानव जातीचा विचार करतो, तेव्हा मानवी मनात सहजीवनाची, विश्वबंधुत्वाची भावना निर्माण होते. तेथे परस्परातील स्पर्धा,हेवेदावे संपून जातात. राष्ट्राराष्ट्रातील सरहद्दीच्या भिंती कोलमडून पडतात.मग युद्धाची भावनाच विरुन जाते. युद्ध नसल्यावर शस्त्रास्त्रे हवीत कशाला ? जो पर्यंत केलेल्या कुकृत्त्वाचा मानवाला पश्चाताप होत नाही, त्याच्या मनात सुधारण्याची इच्छा निर्माण होत नाही, तो पर्यंत हे असंच चालणार. मग, माणसं परस्परांना ठार मारणारचं.
परस्परांच्या सुखदुःखात सहभागी होणे, एकमेकांना मदत करणे हाच खरा मानवता धर्म असून तो सर्वत्र प्रस्थापित झाला पाहिजे. स्वार्थी, फसवाफसविचं, विश्वास घातकी राजकारण संपलं पाहिजे. स्वार्थी राजकारणी लोकांचं ऐकण्यापेक्षा, तुमच्या सद्सदविवेक बुद्धीला पटेल, तेच केलं पाहिजे. तरंच एकाच परमेश्वराची सर्व लेकरं समाधानानं नांदू शकतील. पण… पण
